Choosing a Wedding Photographer

It's that time of year to start thinking about booking your wedding photographer if you are getting married this year. It can be overwhelming for a bride when there are so many photographers to choose from. Wedding photography may seem very expensive but when you break it down, the cost of camera equipment to computers and editing software plus the time spent on color correcting after the wedding, you may find that it's not really that bad. Wedding photographers should also have back up equipment in the event of a malfunction. If you want to keep costs down, you could ask the photographer for a basic package that does not include any fancy extras. I'd recommend paying for good photography than a nice album, dvd, etc. if cost is an issue. I never hear people say they regret paying too much for a good photographer but I do hear all too common, regrets over paying too little for a crappy one. Another important aspect to consider when hiring a wedding photographer is experience. With over 10 years shooting weddings, I can honestly say that no school could have taught me what my mistakes have in this business. Lastly, you want a photographer that you would enjoy spending the whole day with. Someone who makes you feel comfortable and who you can have fun with! That's my two cents worth to all your brides and grooms. Good luck with finding the perfect photographer for your perfect day:)

Lisa Westermark

Lisa Westermark was recently nominated for an Ethel Tibbets award which is recognition for a woman of distinction. Lisa is the Executive Director of the Richmond Hospital Foundation and hires me on a regular basis for events, portraits and even a beautiful seascape photo to brighten up the new MRI room. I have known her to be a positive, hard working, bubbly and kind person as well as a dedicated single Mother. Good luck Lisa!

Tulip Gala for the Legion Foundation

Part of why I love my job is because it allows me to give back by way of photographing Charitable Events. The Tulip Gala raised money for the Legion Foundation's Honor House to help veterans and our troops overseas when they return to society.
In attendance were Mayor Gregor Robertson and ex Premier Bill Van Der Zalm who did a good job as auctioneer for the evening. I had my picture taken with Bill when I was 16 years old at the B.C Festival of the Arts in Duncan. I told Mr. Van Der Zalm and he said he remembered that time on the Island. Many years later, he doesn't look that different. Must be all those lilacs:)
Mayor Gregor Robertson seemed like a gentle soul. Very calm and happy. Not to mention easy on the eyes:)
My Mother-In-Law works for the Legion and I was happy to help out. A successful evening and I met a lot of nice people.

Prenatals

I love shooting prenatals. There are so many aspects to the shoot. The excitement, the love between two people and the beauty. It's a special time and I always feel honored to be there capturing it all for future generations.
Lady "S' did an amazing job. She was confident and feeling beautiful and it showed. You could see how much her significant other adored her. Loved this couple!

Sexy Beauty Shoots

I've started photographing "Sexy Beauty" shoots. It started off being something special women could give their men for Valentine's Day but due to it's popularity, I will offer this package with make up included on a regular basis. I think all women should get this done once in their life!
